Pakistan suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat against Malaysia in an exciting Men’s Under-18 Asia Cup 2026 match played in Kakamigahara, Japan, as both teams produced a highly competitive contest.
The tournament, organized by the Asian Hockey Federation, is taking place from May 29 to June 6 and features some of Asia’s most promising young hockey talent.

After a tightly fought battle for much of the match, Malaysia emerged victorious with three goals, edging Pakistan by a single goal in a contest that remained competitive until the final whistle.
Malaysia’s Dhiresh proved to be the difference-maker for his side, scoring two crucial goals to put his team in a strong position. Israf added another goal to complete Malaysia’s tally and help secure the important win.
Pakistan fought back strongly and remained in contention throughout the match. Muzammil opened the scoring for Pakistan in the 42nd minute, giving his side hope of a comeback.
The Green Shirts continued to press forward and found another goal through Muhammad Farhan, who scored in the final minute of the match. However, the late effort was not enough to prevent Malaysia from claiming victory.
Despite the defeat, Pakistan showed determination and resilience against a strong Malaysian side and remained competitive until the closing moments of the encounter.
The result leaves Pakistan looking to bounce back in its next fixture when it takes on Bangladesh on June 3 in a crucial match of the tournament.
Pakistan’s national junior hockey team is participating in the competition with support from PTCL and Alaska Batteries as it seeks to develop young talent and strengthen the country’s future hockey prospects on the international stage.
