In a video shared on Instagram, Faaiza addressed members of Pakistan’s acting community and encouraged them to thoroughly examine agreements before signing. She specifically highlighted clauses related to artificial intelligence, warning that some of these provisions could have long-term implications for performers.
According to the actress, many actors may not fully understand the impact of certain AI clauses that are becoming more common in industry contracts. She noted that some of these provisions appear to have little relevance to television drama productions but are still being included in agreements.
Faaiza said actors should carefully read every detail of a contract and seek professional advice whenever necessary. She recommended consulting legal experts or contacting actors’ associations if any clause is unclear, adding that some of the AI-related terms she has encountered do not appear to be in performers’ best interests.
The actress emphasized that her message was intended purely as an awareness initiative and was not directed at any particular production house, television channel or producer. She clarified that her goal was to encourage artists to better protect their professional rights in an evolving technological landscape.
In the caption accompanying her video, Faaiza further explained her concerns about the growing role of artificial intelligence in production work. She noted that AI is increasingly being used to reduce the need for actors’ participation in activities such as publicity shoots, promotional material and even certain action sequences.
She stressed that any use of an actor’s image, voice or likeness should only take place with clear consent and a complete understanding of how that material will be used. The actress also warned performers against signing away such rights indefinitely without carefully reviewing the conditions attached to them.
Faaiza highlighted concerns related to digital replication, voice cloning, image manipulation and technologies capable of making a performer appear younger or older through AI-generated alterations. She suggested that actors should pay close attention to any clauses involving these practices before agreeing to them.
