72,000 applications received for 2025 Hajj so far

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has reported receiving over 72,000 applications for the 2025 Hajj under the Government Hajj Scheme. With the submission deadline fast approaching, applications will be accepted at designated banks on Monday and Tuesday, marking the final two days for enrollment.

Spokesperson Muhammad Umar Butt stated that applicants can conveniently join their relatives’ Hajj groups under the scheme. To participate in the Regular Hajj Scheme, an initial deposit of Rs 200,000 is required, followed by a second installment of Rs 400,000, which includes additional facilities. This installment must be paid within ten days of the balloting, with the final payment due by February 10.

A noteworthy aspect of the scheme allows overseas Pakistanis to sponsor Hajj applications for themselves or their family members. Umar emphasized that this initiative ensures a smooth and transparent process for pilgrims while offering greater accessibility to applicants.

In addition to Hajj arrangements, the ministry has announced the 40th Annual National Hifz and Qirat Competition, inviting nominations from all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Provincial-level competitions have been scheduled, and provinces have been directed to finalize their nominations by January 15. Winners from these rounds will advance to the national-level competition, with top performers earning the chance to represent Pakistan in international events.

This year’s competition includes separate categories for boys, girls, and youth, promoting inclusivity and providing equal opportunities for all participants. Umar highlighted the initiative’s goal to nurture young talent and promote Quranic education across the country.
