Pakistani Wrestlers Win Gold and Silver at U-17 Asian Beach Wrestling Championship

Pakistan’s young wrestlers produced an outstanding performance at the Under-17 Asian Beach Wrestling Championship 2026 in Vietnam, winning one gold medal and one silver medal to make the country proud on the continental stage.

Muhammad Usman Laghari emerged as Pakistan’s star performer in the 90kg category, claiming the gold medal and earning the title of Asian champion. He remained unbeaten throughout the competition, displaying exceptional skill, strength and consistency against top wrestlers from across Asia.

Laghari began his campaign with a victory over a host nation wrestler from Vietnam before defeating opponents from Mongolia and China in the preliminary rounds. He continued his dominant run by overcoming a strong wrestler from Kazakhstan in the semi-final to secure a place in the championship bout.

In the final, Laghari faced another Vietnamese wrestler and delivered a commanding performance to seal the gold medal for Pakistan, completing a flawless tournament campaign.

Pakistan also celebrated success in the 70kg category, where Hassan Ali Bhola captured the silver medal after an impressive series of victories. Bhola defeated two wrestlers from Jordan, one from Saudi Arabia and two competitors from Vietnam on his way to the final.

One of his most notable performances came in the semi-final, where he defeated a strong Chinese opponent to earn a place in the title match. Despite a determined effort in the final, Bhola was unable to secure victory and finished the competition with a silver medal.

Team officials praised both athletes for their dedication and hard work. Coach Ghulam Farid credited the success to disciplined training, teamwork and the wrestlers’ commitment to representing Pakistan with pride.

He said the results highlight Pakistan’s growing strength in wrestling at the Asian level and will inspire more young athletes to pursue the sport.
