Shehbaz Sharif, Narendra Modi to Attend SCO Summit in Bishkek on September 1

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to represent Pakistan at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on September 1, with several prominent regional leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also expected to attend.
According to sources, Shehbaz Sharif will arrive in the Kyrgyz capital on August 31 as part of his official visit. He will participate in the SCO summit the following day, where leaders of member states are expected to hold discussions on regional cooperation, international developments and other matters of mutual interest.

The high-level gathering is expected to bring together some of the region’s most influential leaders. The presidents of China, Russia and Iran have been confirmed as participants, while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to attend.
The presence of leaders from major SCO member states is expected to provide an important platform for discussions on regional and international challenges, as well as opportunities to strengthen cooperation among participating countries.
Kyrgyzstan is scheduled to host two major multilateral gatherings on September 1. Alongside the main SCO summit, an SCO Plus meeting will also be held, bringing additional countries into the broader regional dialogue.
The president of Turkey and the heads of state of Belarus and Mongolia have been invited to participate in the SCO Plus summit. According to sources, the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Togo are also expected to attend the meeting.
Following his participation in the September 1 summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will undertake a bilateral visit to Kyrgyzstan on September 2.
The bilateral engagement is expected to provide Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan with an opportunity to discuss their relations and explore ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
