Pakistan Extends Airspace Ban on Indian Aircraft Until July 24

Pakistan has prolonged its airspace restrictions on Indian aircraft for another month, with the ban now set to remain in place until July 24.

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) issued a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), confirming that all Indian-registered aircraft, along with planes operated, owned, or leased by Indian airlines, will continue to be barred from entering Pakistani airspace. The restriction also applies to Indian military aircraft.

The ban covers Pakistan’s entire airspace, including the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions, preventing Indian carriers from using these routes for international operations.

The restrictions were initially introduced in April 2025 following a rise in tensions between Pakistan and India after the Pahalgam incident in Indian-administered Kashmir. Since then, both countries have maintained reciprocal airspace limitations.

As a result of the continued closure, Indian airlines have been forced to reroute several international flights, leading to longer journey times and higher fuel and operational costs, particularly on routes connecting India with Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East.

With the latest extension, Indian aircraft will remain unable to access Pakistani airspace until July 24 unless authorities announce any changes before the current restrictions expire.
