Pakistan’s opposition has decided to pursue constitutional and legal action, including approaching the Supreme Court over alleged contempt of court, as it raised concerns about the health and medical treatment of PTI founder Imran Khan.

The decision was taken during a meeting of opposition parliamentary parties chaired by opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

According to a declaration issued following the meeting, participants expressed serious concern over what they described as the government’s failure to implement Supreme Court orders.

The opposition also accused the government of staging a “drama” over the PTI founder’s health and expressed concern about his medical condition and access to treatment.

Participants agreed that no compromise would be accepted when it comes to Imran Khan’s health, treatment and other medical matters.

The meeting decided that constitutional and legal options would be pursued over the alleged non-implementation of court directives, including approaching the Supreme Court over contempt of court.

The opposition also agreed to raise the issue of Imran Khan’s health in Parliament and at other relevant forums as part of its efforts to press the government on the matter.

Meanwhile, participants reaffirmed their earlier decision to proceed with a long march on September 27.

The meeting also decided to contact other opposition parties as part of efforts to broaden political support for the planned protest and the opposition’s position on Imran Khan’s health and treatment.
