Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar comments on Fariha Farrukh’s viral controversy
Pakistani writer and filmmaker Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar has responded to the controversy surrounding influencer Fariha Farrukh’s viral remarks, describing the discussion as inappropriate and calling for stricter regulation of content that he believes negatively impacts society.
Speaking during a recent appearance, Qamar was asked to share his views on the statement that has been widely circulated across social media platforms. However, the veteran screenwriter distanced himself from the subject, stating that he does not consider such matters worthy of public discourse.

In his response, Qamar said he avoids engaging in what he termed vulgar and low-quality conversations, urging the public and media outlets not to amplify content solely because it has gained attention online.
Explaining his stance, he noted that society is exposed to many unpleasant realities on a daily basis, but argued that not every issue should be turned into a topic of public debate or entertainment. According to him, content lacking social value should not be promoted through mainstream or digital media platforms.
Qamar further asserted that individuals alone cannot effectively curb the spread of such material online. He emphasized that the responsibility rests with the state and relevant institutions to regulate harmful content and prevent it from reaching wider audiences.
He also called on authorities to take appropriate action where necessary, maintaining that upholding public standards and discouraging damaging trends is primarily the responsibility of regulatory bodies rather than individual social media users.
