Mitti De Baway is an upcoming Pakistani television drama starring Mahira Khan and Wahaj Ali in the lead roles. Set against a period backdrop in Punjab, the Green Entertainment serial follows two people whose youthful love is transformed by separation, changing circumstances and unresolved conflict.
The drama is particularly significant for bringing Mahira and Wahaj together as television leads for the first time. They had previously appeared together in a commercial, but Mitti De Baway marks their first full drama as an on-screen pair.

Mahira plays Billo, who is later seen as Bilqees Bano and addressed as “Bari Sarkar,” while Wahaj plays Baala. The trailer introduces Billo as a 19-year-old in 1998 and establishes her relationship with Baala as an important part of the story.
Their romance does not remain straightforward. Baala is eventually sent to prison, although the trailer keeps the circumstances behind his imprisonment a mystery. His absence becomes a turning point in both their lives.
When the story reaches 2002, Baala returns from prison as a visibly changed and hardened man. Billo has undergone an equally striking transformation. The young woman once shown in love with Baala has become an influential figure known as Bari Sarkar.
Their reunion is far removed from their earlier romance. The trailer shows anger, confrontation and emotional distance between them, while also suggesting that feelings from their past have not completely disappeared. What happened during their years apart, and what caused their relationship to deteriorate, remain among the central questions surrounding the story.
The drama appears to combine romance with family tensions, violence, power struggles and personal rivalries. Its period setting and Punjabi cultural elements are also prominent in the trailer, from the characters’ appearance and surroundings to the atmosphere created around their relationships.
The meaning of Mitti De Baway adds another layer to the title. The Punjabi expression refers to figures or dolls made from clay. How that symbolism connects directly with Billo and Baala’s journey has not yet been fully revealed.
Alongside Mahira Khan and Wahaj Ali, Junaid Khan, Hina Afridi and Amar Khan have also been associated with the drama. Details of several supporting characters are still being kept under wraps, so their roles should become clearer as Green Entertainment releases further promotional material.
