A Customs officer was martyred and another seriously injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a Customs vehicle near the Rawalpindi Interchange Toll Plaza on the Motorway on Friday.
According to initial reports, the attackers sprayed the official vehicle with bullets, leaving one officer dead at the scene and critically injuring another. The intense gunfire also caused the vehicle to catch fire, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene, extinguished the blaze and shifted the deceased and the injured officer to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. The martyred officer was identified as Jawad, while the injured official was identified as Basirullah.
Police officials said the fire was brought under control shortly after rescue personnel arrived, preventing further damage.
Law enforcement authorities have launched a formal investigation into the attack and are collecting evidence from the scene. Police said efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those involved, expressing confidence that the perpetrators will be brought to justice soon.
