Rehan Tariq Appears in First Podcast After Bail, Shares Emotional Account of Arrest and Jail Experience

Journalist and podcast host Rehan Tariq has made his first public appearance after securing bail, returning to the RTS platform for an audience-based podcast in which he spoke openly about his arrest, time in custody and the lessons he says he learned during the ordeal.
Addressing a packed audience, Rehan described the past few weeks as one of the most difficult periods of his life. He thanked Allah for helping him through the trial and expressed gratitude to his family, colleagues, legal team, employer and supporters in Pakistan and abroad, saying their prayers and encouragement gave him strength during his detention.

During the discussion, Rehan said his time in jail gave him an opportunity to reflect, spend time with books and reassess many aspects of his life. He shared that he read several books while in custody and said the experience had made him mentally stronger and more patient. He also remarked that difficult times reveal who truly stands beside a person.
Speaking about journalism, Rehan maintained that asking questions is an essential part of a healthy society. At the same time, he stressed that journalism should remain responsible and avoid content that could harm national interests or create unnecessary division. He added that he and his team intend to continue improving their work while learning from past mistakes.
The podcast also featured questions from audience members, many of whom congratulated Rehan on his release, shared messages of support and recited poetry. Several attendees said they had prayed for his release and welcomed him back to the RTS platform.
Responding to one audience member, Rehan apologised to anyone whose feelings may have been hurt by previous content, saying he sincerely sought forgiveness from those who were offended. He also reaffirmed his respect for state institutions and the courts, saying he had always cooperated with the legal process.
Concluding the session, Rehan thanked his supporters once again and said RTS would continue producing programs under the principle of “Creativity with Purpose,” promising to pursue more responsible journalism while moving forward after his release on bail.
