LAHORE: The Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department has launched the province’s first portable X-ray service for the treatment and diagnosis of wild animals, marking a major step forward in wildlife healthcare.
A medical team from the state-of-the-art Wildlife Hospital at Safari Zoo Lahore visited Lahore Zoo, where several wild animals underwent health examinations using the newly introduced portable X-ray system.

According to department officials, a fallow deer and a python were among the first animals to be examined on-site with the portable equipment. The new technology eliminates the need to transport animals to veterinary hospitals for diagnostic imaging, making the process quicker and safer.
Officials said the portable X-ray service will help reduce the stress and risks associated with moving wild animals while enabling faster diagnosis and timely treatment.
The Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department added that the initiative is expected to significantly improve the quality of veterinary care and strengthen wildlife treatment services across zoological facilities in the province.
