PM Shehbaz Praises Pakistan-US Ties, Calls Trump ‘Man Of Peace’

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday highlighted the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and the United States, saying the two countries share an eight-decade partnership that continues to grow through cooperation in various fields.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad marking the 250th anniversary of United States Independence, the prime minister congratulated US President Donald Trump, the American administration and the people of the United States on the historic milestone. The event was attended by diplomats, government officials and distinguished guests celebrating the enduring ties between the two nations.

Shehbaz said the history of the United States represents a story of hope and progress. He noted that Pakistan and the US have worked closely together in areas including counter-terrorism, trade, investment and education. He also recalled that the United States was among the first countries to recognize Pakistan following its independence.

The prime minister highlighted the contributions of thousands of Pakistani graduates from American universities who are playing an important role in Pakistan’s economic development. He also noted that Pakistan has one of the world’s largest freelance workforces, while Pakistani doctors serving in the United States continue to make valuable contributions to healthcare and humanitarian services.

Referring to recent diplomatic engagement, Shehbaz said Pakistan and the United States have maintained close cooperation during important periods of history. He described the recent meeting in Washington between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the US Secretary of State as positive and constructive, reflecting continued high-level engagement between the two countries.

He also praised US diplomat Natalie Baker for her role in strengthening bilateral relations, saying she served as an effective representative of the United States in Pakistan and helped bring the two nations closer through active diplomacy.

A major part of the prime minister’s speech focused on regional peace and stability. He credited former US President Donald Trump with helping facilitate a ceasefire between Pakistan and India through timely intervention and described him as a “Man of Peace.”

Shehbaz said Pakistan would remain grateful for Trump’s efforts and expressed hope that lasting peace and stability would soon be achieved in South Asia. He added that Trump would be remembered as a leader who advocated peace in the region.

The prime minister also said Pakistan is currently serving as an honest mediator between the United States and Iran. He thanked both countries for expressing confidence in Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts and said Pakistan remains committed to promoting dialogue and peaceful solutions.

Acknowledging the role of the armed forces, Shehbaz praised Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for contributing to regional stability and supporting Pakistan’s broader efforts aimed at peace and security.
