Nepra Raises Electricity Prices by Rs0.28 Per Unit for One Month

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has increased electricity prices by Rs0.28 per unit for a period of one month, with the revised rate applicable to consumers of K-Electric as well as power distribution companies across the country. The increase has been approved under the monthly fuel price adjustment mechanism.
According to official details, Nepra issued a notification confirming that the adjustment relates to fuel cost variations for the month of December. The authority stated that the revised rate will be charged to both K-Electric consumers and customers of government-run distribution companies.

The decision was taken after a public hearing on a request submitted by the Central Power Purchasing Agency, which had sought an increase of Rs0.48 per unit. After examining the submitted data, arguments and available records, Nepra approved a lower increase of Rs0.28 per unit instead of the amount requested by the CPPA.
As per the notification, the approved fuel price adjustment will be reflected in electricity bills issued during the current billing cycle of February, adding to the overall cost of power consumption for households and businesses for the month.
