Mohsin Naqvi Says Youth Want Merit, Jobs and Justice — Warns Ignoring Them Could Have Serious Consequences

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that Pakistan’s young generation is not looking for temporary financial incentives but wants a fair system that provides justice, merit and equal employment opportunities.
Speaking at the Pakistan Economic Summit, Naqvi said Islamabad is a busy city where countless activities take place every day, but real progress will only come when institutions develop strong local leadership and individuals take ownership of their responsibilities. He stressed that without new leadership and accountability, meaningful change cannot be achieved.

He criticised the belief that young people can be satisfied by offering small monthly stipends or free tablets. Instead, he urged policymakers to ask the youth what they actually need, saying their demands are simple: a system that works fairly, access to justice, merit-based recruitment and genuine job opportunities.
Naqvi said the government has failed to provide these basic expectations. According to him, young people are capable of earning well on their own if they are given the right opportunities rather than short-term assistance.
Warning against ignoring the younger generation, the interior minister said that regardless of the labels people use for them, a united youth has the power to transform the country and even overturn the existing order. He argued that their legitimate demands should be fulfilled before frustration turns into a larger challenge.
Naqvi also compared Pakistan’s financial management to running a household. He said no family can successfully manage its affairs if it starts every month already burdened with heavy debt, adding that the same principle applies to the federal government’s finances. He stressed that sustainable governance requires fixing the system instead of relying on temporary measures.
