Federal Government Raises Minimum Employee Salary to Rs40,700

  • Minimum monthly salary of federal government employees increased to Rs40,700.
  • Employees earning below the new threshold will receive a special allowance.
  • The revised salary will take effect retrospectively from July 1, 2026.
  • The measure ensures no federal employee receives less than Rs40,700 per month.

The federal government has raised the minimum monthly salary of its employees to Rs40,700, increasing the previous minimum by Rs3,700.

Under the revised arrangement, any federal government employee whose monthly salary falls below Rs40,700 will receive a special allowance to bridge the difference and bring their total monthly earnings up to the newly fixed minimum.

The decision will be implemented retrospectively from July 1, 2026, meaning eligible employees will receive the benefit from the beginning of the current financial year.

The move is intended to establish Rs40,700 as the minimum monthly salary for federal government employees and ensure that no eligible employee receives an amount below the revised threshold.
