Canada Qualify for 2026 T20 World Cup After Dominant Win Over Bahamas

Canada have officially booked their place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 following a resounding win over the Bahamas in the Americas Qualifier held at the Maple Leaf North-West Ground on Saturday. The victory, Canada’s fifth straight in the tournament, ensured their qualification for next year’s global showpiece event, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

Backed by a home crowd, Canada delivered a complete performance, continuing their unbeaten run with yet another commanding display. Bowling first, the Canadian attack dismantled the Bahamian batting lineup, skittling them out for just 57 runs. Kaleem Sana and Shivam Sharma were the standout performers with the ball, each taking three wickets and applying relentless pressure throughout the innings.

Canada wasted no time in chasing the modest target. Opener Dilpreet Bajwa led the charge with an explosive unbeaten knock of 36 off only 14 balls. His innings included a flurry of boundaries, and the hosts sealed victory in just 5.3 overs, underlining their superiority.

Led by captain Nicholas Kirton, Canada came into the Americas Qualifier as tournament favourites, having gained valuable experience from their participation in the 2024 T20 World Cup. They lived up to expectations with a string of dominant wins throughout the qualifier. Their campaign featured a 110-run thrashing of Bermuda, a 59-run victory against the Cayman Islands, a 10-wicket win over the Bahamas in the first leg, and a rain-affected but comfortable 42-run triumph in a five-over rematch against the Cayman Islands.
