Experts say that persistent trade deficits, foreign debt obligations, and limited inflows continue to weigh on the rupee. Unless fresh foreign exchange sources arrive—such as IMF support or increased export earnings—the rupee may see further depreciation. Some strategists warn that if global dollar demand strengthens or Pakistan’s reserves come under greater strain, USD/PKR could test levels near ₨290 in the coming weeks.
Expert analysis: A currency strategist observed that “even without intraday shocks, the steady upward tick reflects structural pressure. Unless fiscal consolidation and boosting exports happen soon, further rupee weakening is likely.” Given current dynamics, the pair is expected to fluctuate within a range of ₨283.50 to ₨286.00 unless triggered by external shocks or policy shifts.
