UK PM Urges Trump to Show Restraint Amid Reports of Planned Strikes on Iran

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called for restraint and de-escalation in the Middle East, urging former U.S. President Donald Trump to “keep a cool head” amid growing speculation of potential American military action against Iran.

Speaking to international media outlets, Starmer warned that rising tensions between the United States, Israel, and Iran risk further destabilising the region and harming the global economy. “All parties must step back from confrontation. Escalation benefits no one,” he said.

The prime minister’s remarks come amid reports suggesting the U.S. is weighing military options in response to recent developments involving Iran. Starmer emphasized the need for diplomatic channels to remain open and active.

While reaffirming the UK’s concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Starmer acknowledged Israel’s right to self-defence but cautioned against actions that could widen the conflict. “It is vital to contain the crisis and prevent it from spiralling into a broader regional war,” he stated.
