Punjab CTD arrests 34 Militants in Extensive Operations Across the Province

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has arrested 34 militants during an extensive crackdown involving 242 intelligence-based operations across various cities. The operations, conducted in Lahore, Bahawalnagar, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, and Rahim Yar Khan, aimed to neutralize threats from extremist elements.

A CTD spokesperson confirmed that among the arrested individuals, 11 were identified as dangerous militants linked to banned organizations. Authorities also recovered explosives and materials intended for constructing suicide vests, underscoring the seriousness of their activities.

Officials revealed that the militants had plotted to target a government building in Lahore, highlighting the importance of these preemptive operations in averting potential disasters.

In addition to the intelligence-based raids, the CTD has conducted 7,536 combing operations over the past month, resulting in the detention of 637 suspects. These efforts reflect the department’s ongoing commitment to enhancing security and combating terrorism across the province.
