PTI Expels Five MNAs for Supporting 26th Constitutional Amendment Bill

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expelled five Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) for defying party policy and voting in favor of the 26th Constitutional Amendment Bill, 2024. The decision, announced on Sunday, marks a firm disciplinary move by the party leadership.
The expelled lawmakers are Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, Mubarak Zeb Khan, Chaudhry Usman Ali, Zahoor Hussain Qureshi, and Muhammad Ilyas Chaudhary. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed their removal in an official notification, stating that the five MNAs now stand disqualified and deseated from the National Assembly as a result of their actions.

PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram also announced the decision publicly through a post on X (formerly Twitter). He stated that these members had violated their oath and commitment to the party by going against party instructions and voting for the constitutional amendment. According to him, their actions equated to aligning with another parliamentary party, which warranted immediate expulsion.
The disciplinary action follows direct instructions from PTI’s incarcerated founder, Imran Khan. Party insiders revealed that Khan had ordered strong measures against any member supporting the amendment and had also called for action against those who failed to attend the session.
Besides the expulsions, PTI has issued show-cause notices to several other party members for violating internal discipline. Those served notices include Senator Faisal Saleem, Zarqa Suharwardy, Zain Qureshi, Aslam Ghuman, Riaz Fatyana, and Maqsood Ali Khan. Their absence or non-compliance during the crucial session has drawn scrutiny from the leadership.
