Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Holds Key Bilateral Meetings with World Leaders at COP-29 in Baku

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a series of high-profile meetings with global leaders during the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP-29) Climate Action Summit, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to addressing climate change and enhancing international cooperation.
During the summit’s opening session, Prime Minister Sharif met with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), discussing climate change initiatives and exploring avenues for strengthening bilateral ties. The leaders emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to tackle environmental issues affecting both nations.

The Prime Minister also held discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan. Their conversation focused on enhancing Pakistan-Turkey cooperation in combating environmental pollution and climate change, with both sides committed to taking joint action on these global challenges.
In a meeting with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Prime Minister Sharif explored ways to bolster Pakistan-UK relations across various sectors, reflecting a shared interest in advancing economic and environmental priorities.
Prime Minister Sharif’s interactions extended to Central Asian leaders, including Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon. The discussions focused on protecting glaciers and water resources in the region and improving transportation and communication links between Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan to foster regional connectivity.
The Prime Minister further engaged with Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Paudel and Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser to the Interim Government, Dr. Mohammad Yunus, addressing concerns about rising temperatures, sea level threats, and forest conservation across South Asia. These dialogues aimed to strengthen Pakistan’s ties with neighboring countries and coordinate efforts on shared environmental challenges.
