Pakistan Unveils 15-Member Squad for Bangladesh T20I Series, Shadab and Rauf Miss Out

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a revamped 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Bangladesh, scheduled to take place in Dhaka from July 20 to 24. The team will be led by Salman Ali Agha and features a blend of seasoned campaigners and emerging talent. All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz makes a return to the national setup, while key players such as Shadab Khan, Haris Rauf, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah will miss the tour.
Shadab Khan is currently undergoing rehabilitation following shoulder surgery, and Haris Rauf continues to recover from a hamstring injury that had earlier sidelined him from the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 playoffs for San Francisco Unicorns. Other senior players have been rested as part of Pakistan’s strategic rotation policy ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India and Sri Lanka.

The squad was officially announced during a press briefing in Lahore by PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmad Syed and Advisor to the Chairman Amir Mir. This marks Pakistan’s second white-ball series under newly appointed head coach Mike Hesson. It also follows their recent 3-0 T20I series win over Bangladesh at home in May, though the new squad has been trimmed and adjusted to provide exposure to younger players.
Among the notable inclusions are all-rounders Mohammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf, hard-hitting batters Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah, and wicketkeepers Mohammad Haris and Sahibzada Farhan. Rising opener Hasan Nawaz, who made headlines with 399 runs at a strike rate of 162.19 in PSL 2025, retains his place. Saim Ayub and Hussain Talat also return to strengthen the batting unit.
The bowling department features less international experience. Ahmed Daniyal and Salman Mirza, both yet to debut for Pakistan, will form part of the pace attack along with Abbas Afridi, the most experienced T20I bowler in the squad with 21 caps. Afridi impressed during the PSL with 17 wickets in 11 matches. Salman Mirza also drew attention in the league, grabbing nine wickets in just four outings for Lahore Qalandars. Left-arm wristspinner Sufiyan Muqeem, who has played 10 T20Is, will lead the spin attack alongside Abrar Ahmed.
Pakistan’s three T20Is will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The matches are scheduled for July 20, 22, and 24, all starting at 6:00pm local time. The national team is set to arrive in Dhaka on July 16.
