Islamabad High Court Sets June 26 for Hearing in £190 Million Case Involving Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has scheduled a hearing for June 26 in the high-profile £190 million case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. According to the court’s cause list issued by the registrar office, a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif will preside over the proceedings.
The hearing pertains to the petitions filed by Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, in which they have sought the suspension of their sentences. Notices had previously been issued to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), directing the anti-corruption watchdog to respond to the appeals.

On January 17, an Islamabad accountability court found both Khan and Bushra Bibi guilty in the case, handing down sentences for their alleged involvement in the unlawful retention and misuse of assets.
Background of the £190 Million Case
The case revolves around a £190 million settlement between the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) and property tycoon Malik Riaz. The funds, recovered as part of a civil settlement, were supposed to be repatriated to the Government of Pakistan. However, NAB alleges that the money was unlawfully retained and misused by Imran Khan’s government through the Al-Qadir Trust, a non-profit run by Khan and Bushra Bibi.
Authorities claim that valuable state assets were exchanged for personal and political benefit, including land for the Al-Qadir University project. Imran Khan and his legal team deny the charges, maintaining that all decisions were made in accordance with national interest and transparency.
The outcome of the upcoming hearing may have significant legal and political implications for both the former premier and his wife, who are already entangled in multiple legal battles.
