Islamabad Excise Department Sets Record with Rs 21.34 Billion Tax Collection

The Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department has achieved a new milestone in revenue collection, recording Rs 21.34 billion during the financial year 2024–25—its highest-ever annual figure. This marks a significant increase of Rs 4.11 billion compared to the previous year’s total of Rs 17.23 billion.
Director Excise Bilal Azam credited the department’s success to a combination of digital reforms, citizen-friendly services, and strong administrative backing. He emphasized that the guidance of Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa, along with the support of Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, played a critical role in implementing effective policies.

Bilal Azam highlighted that the department has seen consistent growth in tax revenue over the past five years. Key to this progress has been the introduction of digital solutions and services designed to improve convenience for taxpayers. Initiatives such as home-based vehicle registration and an online token tax payment system made it easier for citizens to comply with tax requirements.
These changes have not only improved service accessibility but also enhanced public trust in the department. The Excise team extended its presence across Islamabad, providing services directly in public areas including roads, parks, and marketplaces, which further encouraged participation.
Efforts to improve internal systems and conduct targeted outreach campaigns also contributed to increased voluntary tax compliance. The department’s modern approach, combining technology with active public engagement, helped it reach new levels of operational efficiency.
Looking ahead, the Excise Department plans to introduce further upgrades, including additional digital payment methods, quicker processing, and simpler registration and licensing procedures. The department aims to build on this year’s achievements by continuing to focus on transparency, accountability, and service delivery.
