Field Marshal Munir Engages US Think Tanks, Highlights Pakistan’s Role in Global Security and Economic Cooperation

During his official five-day visit to the United States, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held in-depth discussions with leading American policy experts, think tank scholars, and media professionals in Washington, D.C., focusing on Pakistan’s evolving role in global peace, security, and economic cooperation.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir’s sessions with prominent U.S. strategic affairs institutions provided a platform to articulate Pakistan’s principled stance on key regional and global developments. His engagements were widely praised for offering transparency and strategic clarity, contributing meaningfully to the ongoing U.S.-Pakistan strategic dialogue.

In these high-level interactions, the army chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and a rules-based international order. He stressed that Pakistan remains a frontline partner in the global war on terror, highlighting the country’s extensive human and economic sacrifices in the fight against extremism.
Referencing military operations such as Maarka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, he drew attention to Pakistan’s robust counter-terrorism record and warned of the destabilising tactics of certain regional actors who exploit terrorism as a tool of hybrid warfare.
Beyond security issues, Field Marshal Munir spotlighted Pakistan’s potential in emerging economic sectors. He called on global stakeholders to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s information technology, agriculture, and mining industries, citing them as promising areas for mutually beneficial cooperation.
The visit also included a significant two-hour meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, followed by a luncheon in the army chief’s honour. The discussions, according to ISPR, covered a wide spectrum of topics — from counter-terrorism and regional peace to expanding bilateral collaboration in trade, artificial intelligence, energy, and digital finance, including cryptocurrency.
President Trump described the interaction as an honour and welcomed Pakistan’s efforts in stabilising South Asia. The leaders also reviewed recent developments such as the ceasefire with India and growing tensions in the Middle East, reaffirming the importance of diplomatic engagement and cooperative security frameworks.
The COAS reiterated that Pakistan pursues a balanced and lawful approach to international affairs, advocating for diplomacy and multilateral dialogue over confrontation.
The trip, aimed at reinforcing military and strategic ties, has been viewed in Islamabad and Washington as a step forward in rebuilding a broad-based and pragmatic partnership between the two countries, especially at a time when global alliances are being redefined.
