Field Marshal Asim Munir Vows Decisive Response to Terrorism and External Threats

Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in a series of high-level engagements on Saturday, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to combat terrorism and defend its sovereignty against any external aggression. In his strongly worded statements, he declared that the blood of every innocent Pakistani will be avenged and warned that any attempts to destabilize the country would be met with a swift and fitting response.

During a visit to the Corps Headquarters in Peshawar, Field Marshal Munir was briefed on the prevailing security situation and ongoing counterterrorism operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also attended the funeral of martyrs from the recent Bannu Garrison incident and visited injured personnel receiving treatment at Bannu CMH.

Paying tribute to the sacrifices of the armed forces, Munir lauded their resilience in confronting threats posed by Indian-sponsored elements, particularly the network referred to as “Fitna-al-Khawarij.” He reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to eradicating terrorism in all its forms, declaring that facilitators, abettors, and perpetrators of violence would be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice, regardless of cost.

Highlighting the need for a comprehensive approach, he emphasized enhancing the capacity of civilian law enforcement, especially the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, and urged government stakeholders to prioritize institutional support. “The Army remains fully committed to supporting and strengthening all national institutions responsible for maintaining internal security,” he said.

In a separate address at the commissioning parade of Pakistan Navy’s Midshipmen and Short Service Commission Course in Karachi, Field Marshal Munir expanded on the nation’s defense posture in the face of regional tensions. Referring to India’s recent acts of unprovoked aggression, he stated, “The successes of Marka-e-Haq shall never fade from Indian memory.” He warned that any miscalculation based on perceived vulnerabilities would provoke a decisive and proportionate Pakistani response.

“Pakistan will never compromise on its sovereignty or national interests. Any illusion of strategic impunity will be shattered by our firm resolve,” he added. He cautioned that the onus of any future escalation would lie squarely with the aggressor, with potentially catastrophic consequences for regional peace.

Despite provocations, Munir highlighted Pakistan’s responsible conduct and restraint, reinforcing its status as a “net regional stabilizer.” Yet he made it clear that restraint should not be mistaken for weakness.

Touching on the Kashmir issue, the Army Chief reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), asserting that a just and peaceful resolution remains critical to regional stability. “Without addressing the Kashmir dispute, lasting peace in South Asia will remain elusive,” he said.

Addressing the newly commissioned naval officers, Munir commended the Pakistan Naval Academy for maintaining high training standards, which continue to attract cadets from allied nations. The current commissioning term included midshipmen from Bahrain, Iraq, Palestine, Djibouti, and Turkiye. He emphasized the importance of a robust maritime force in light of evolving naval challenges and urged officers to enhance operational readiness.

Earlier, he was received at the Naval Academy by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, where he also distributed awards to the top-performing cadets.
