Falak Shabir Calls On Maryam Nawaz To Introduce Rules On Short Dresses In Public

• Falak Shabir urged Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz to consider regulations regarding short dresses in public places.
• The singer said his concerns stem from being a father of two daughters and wanting to preserve cultural values.
• His comments triggered mixed reactions across social media.

Pakistani singer Falak Shabir has sparked debate on social media after urging Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to introduce laws concerning the wearing of short dresses in public places.

The singer shared his views through an Instagram Story while reacting to reports about a ban on vape pods in Punjab. Praising the reported move, Falak reposted the news and described it as an “excellent” step, adding clapping emojis to express his approval.

He then appealed directly to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, asking her to consider introducing regulations related to clothing in public areas. In his message, Falak wrote that as a father of two daughters, he respectfully requested the Punjab government to make laws regarding people wearing short dresses in public places, bazaars and streets. He added that without such measures, cultural values could be negatively affected.

Explaining his position, the singer said his concerns were based on the type of social environment in which future generations, including his daughters, would grow up. He stressed that public spaces should reflect traditional cultural values and urged authorities to take notice of the issue.

Falak Shabir’s remarks quickly gained attention online and generated a wide range of reactions. Some social media users supported his viewpoint, agreeing that cultural traditions should be protected in public spaces.

Others, however, disagreed with the singer’s proposal, arguing that clothing choices are a matter of personal freedom and should remain an individual decision rather than being regulated through legislation.
