Udaari follows two neighbouring families whose lives become connected through friendship, hardship and music. Samiya Mumtaz plays Sajida, a widowed mother raising her daughter Zebo, while Bushra Ansari portrays Sheedan, an outspoken woman from a family of traditional musicians who face prejudice because of their profession.

Urwa Hocane plays Meera, Sheedan’s talented daughter, whose musical ambitions bring her into contact with Arsh, played by Farhan Saeed. Alongside their journey, Sajida’s relationship with Imtiaz, played by Ahsan Khan, introduces a darker conflict involving trust, child protection and the courage to challenge abuse.

Meera and Arsh’s relationship develops through their shared involvement in music. Their different backgrounds introduce questions about class, respect and opportunity, while Meera’s ambitions challenge the stigma attached to women who perform professionally.

Sajida and Zebo’s story forms the drama’s central social conflict. Sheedan’s friendship and Muneera’s support highlight the importance of solidarity, while Imtiaz’s actions expose how trust and influence can be used to silence vulnerable people.

Udaari addresses child sexual abuse, victim-blaming, women’s financial independence and barriers to justice. It also explores prejudice against musicians, false criminal accusations and political interference, balancing these subjects with a story of resilience and creative ambition.
