Zimbabwe Tri-Series: Seifert’s Quickfire Fifty Guides New Zealand to Seven-Wicket Win Over South Africa

New Zealand cruised into the final of the Zimbabwe tri-nation T20 series with a convincing seven-wicket win over South Africa in Harare on Tuesday. A blistering half-century from opener Tim Seifert and a disciplined bowling effort ensured the Kiwis maintained their unbeaten run in the tournament.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, New Zealand’s bowlers struck regularly to dismantle South Africa’s batting lineup. The Proteas were reduced to 79 for five in the 15th over, with only Reeza Hendricks showing resistance. Hendricks scored 41 off 37 balls, including four boundaries and a six, while George Linde contributed an unbeaten 23 off 15 balls to push South Africa to 134 for eight in their allotted 20 overs.

Adam Milne (2/21), captain Mitchell Santner (2/26), and Jacob Duffy (2/33) led the bowling attack, ensuring tight control throughout the innings.
In response, Seifert and Devon Conway provided New Zealand a solid start with a 51-run opening stand. Despite losing a couple of wickets in the middle, Seifert’s unbeaten 66 off 48 deliveries, featuring six fours and two sixes, along with Daryl Mitchell’s 20* off 15 balls, sealed the victory with 25 balls to spare.
Senuran Muthusamy (2/24) was South Africa’s standout bowler, but his efforts were not enough to stop New Zealand. Seifert’s innings earned him the Player of the Match award.
New Zealand finished the group stage with three wins from three matches and will now face South Africa in the final at Harare on Saturday, July 26. Zimbabwe, having lost all their matches, were eliminated from the competition.
