Zarb e Azb is name given to the military operation started against terrorism in Pakistan which was officially initiated by PAK Army on 15th June 2014 and it has been a very successful operation so far.

Pakistan has been the target of much different terrorist organization from many years. Different militant groups emerged during the America’s War with Afghanistan. Pakistan; as being the ally of America in the war has to face different challenged form inside and outside of the country. Waziristan and KPK being near to the Afghan border had to face several attacks from different militant groups. The different militant groups that are fighting against the Pakistan armed forces are Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) , Jundallah, al-Qaeda, Haqqani network , the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

The operation started on June 15, 2014. The operation was started after a terrorist attack on Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. TTP took the responsibility of the attack. The preparation of this operation was very tough as the military had to fight on three different fronts. The operation is still ongoing stage and more than 90 percent of the land is cleared from the terrorists.

Zarb e Azb; being the largest military operation in the Waziristan area has found support from different entities from inside and outside of the country. The main purpose of this operation is to bring peace to the northern areas of the country. Zarb e Azb has got appreciation form leading journalists and analysts from Pakistan and it has also been supported by all the major political parties of the country. Only Jammat-e-Islami is the political party that has publically criticized the operation saying that there should be no operation in North Waziristan and all the matters should be resolved via peace talks with Taliban. On the contrary; all the major Islamic ulemas of the country has supported this operation and called it Jihad.

Pakistan has also got international support from many different countries such as America and China. The foreign minister of China endorsed this operation and said that Pakistan and China face the similar problem of terrorism and also added that Pakistan will get all the tactical support from its neighboring country. Pakistan; being the tactical ally of the United States of America has got sheer support from their side.
