The Metro Bus Service or shortly MBS in Pakistan is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system was first Introduced in Lahore, See Lahore Metro Bus for more details.

The first section in Lahore, which consists of a 27-kilometres long route and 29 bus stations between Gajumata to Shahadra was opened by Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at an elaborate event in February 2013.

The Government of Punjab has announced to extend the service in other metropolitan cities including Karachi, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Faisalabad and Multan as there are special allocation in the budget to kick start the service this year.

In the first stage, the Metro Bus System or MBS will be built in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan. In later years it will be followed by MBS in Karachi and Peshawar as well.

The project of a Metro Bus in Pakistan is another major hallmark of the most popular political party PMLN which got a majority vote in 2013 Election. Motorway, a historical project which changed the way commuting worked in Pakistan, is their most praised project till date.
