PAK vs BAN: Bangladesh Clinch Historic T20I Series Win Over Pakistan With Eight-Run Victory, Lead T20 Series 2-0

Bangladesh scripted history on Tuesday by securing their first-ever T20I series win against Pakistan with an eight-run triumph in the second match of the series. The victory gave Bangladesh an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match contest, marking a major milestone in their short-format cricket journey.

Pakistan opted to field first after winning the toss and immediately put Bangladesh under pressure, reducing them to 28 for four. However, Jaker Ali’s composed knock of 55 from 48 balls, laced with one four and five sixes, alongside Mahedi Hasan’s 33 off 25 deliveries, rebuilt the innings with a 53-run partnership. Bangladesh eventually posted 133 before being bowled out in the final over.

For Pakistan, Salman Mirza (2/17), Ahmed Daniyal (2/23), and Abbas Afridi (2/37) were the standout performers with the ball.

Chasing 134, Pakistan’s batting order collapsed against disciplined bowling from Shoriful Islam and Tanzim Hasan Sakib, sliding to 47 for seven in under 12 overs. Faheem Ashraf mounted a late fightback with an explosive 51 off 32 balls, including four boundaries and as many sixes. He shared a 41-run stand with Abbas Afridi (19 off 13) to keep Pakistan in the hunt. However, despite a brief cameo from Daniyal (17 off 11), the visitors were bowled out for 125 in 19.2 overs.

Shoriful starred with the ball for Bangladesh, claiming three wickets for 17 runs, while Tanzim (2/23) and Mahedi (2/25) provided crucial support. Jaker Ali’s match-winning fifty earned him the Player of the Match award.

The final T20I will be played later this week, but Bangladesh have already secured the series, marking a significant achievement for Litton Das and his team.
