Judicial Commission (Election Rigging)

Judicial Commission (JC) was formed on April 2nd, 2015 under the ordinance passed by the president of Pakistan, when the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-N and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf signed an agreement to form a judicial commission to investigate the allegations of rigging in the general elections 2013.

The formation of judicial commission was announced by the Federal Minister of finance Ishaq Dar along with PTI vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and General Secretary Jahangir Khan Tareen. The credit goes to both parties as both have shown flexibility and maturity on a national issue. Shah Mehmood Qureshi has termed it PTI’s success and said that it will increase the confidence of the people and ensure the transparency of the elections. He said it’s not against any political party, everybody is a winner, no one is a loser and ultimately democracy would benefit from it.

The formation of the Judicial Commission is a great victory for PTI, as said by PTI chief Iman Khan. It is a positive step toward the real democracy and it will end up the political mafias from the country. He further said that “We will now ensure that all evidence of rigging is brought before the JC so that the perpetrators of rigging are exposed and punished”.

Pakistan People’s Party understands the point of PTI regarding the rigging of general elections that why they have showed their support in the formation of Judicial Commission. Both major political parties of Pakistan named PTI and PML-N has different opinions regarding the elections 2013 and yet; expects different result from this commission. Whatever the outcome may be; the main role of the commission is to identify the authenticity of the general election 2013.
