Bangladesh Beat Sri Lanka to Seal T20I Series with Eight-Wicket Win

Bangladesh wrapped up a convincing T20I series win over Sri Lanka with a dominant eight-wicket victory in the second match of the series on Wednesday. With this win, Bangladesh clinched the series 2-1, bouncing back strongly after losing both the Test and ODI series earlier in the tour.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bat first but quickly ran into trouble against Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack. Mahedi Hasan struck early during the powerplay, triggering a collapse that saw Sri Lanka reduced to 49 for 4 in under eight overs. He went on to claim a four-wicket haul, including the crucial wicket of Pathum Nissanka, who was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 46 runs off 39 balls.

Sri Lanka managed to reach 132 for 7 in their 20 overs, thanks to late contributions from Kamindu Mendis, who scored 21 off 15 balls, and Dasun Shanaka, who remained unbeaten on 35 off 25. Apart from Mahedi’s remarkable 4 for 11 in four overs, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shamim Hossain chipped in with one wicket each.
In response, Bangladesh chased down the 133-run target with ease. Although they lost opener Parvez Hossain Emon for a duck, Tanzid Hasan launched a powerful counter-attack. He remained unbeaten on 73 off 47 balls, smashing six sixes and one four. Captain Litton Das supported him with 32 not out off 26 balls, and the pair added a 74-run partnership to stabilize the innings.
Tanzid was later joined by Towhid Hridoy, who contributed 27 not out off 25 balls, helping Bangladesh reach the target with 21 balls to spare. Nuwan Thushara and Kamindu Mendis were the only Sri Lankan bowlers to take wickets in the match.
