Lahore Blues’ Batsmen Saleem, Umar and Qasim Shine with Centuries against Sialkot in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy

Lahore Blues’ batters Mohammad Saleem (117), Umar Siddiq (115), and Qasim Akram (101 not out) delivered impressive centuries against Sialkot at Gohati Cricket Stadium in Swabi, propelling their team to a formidable first innings total of 439-7 declared in 100.1 overs. Resuming from an overnight score of 142-2, Lahore Blues faced a day shortened by poor light, which allowed only 65.5 overs of play.

In other matches, Islamabad and Karachi Blues celebrated convincing wins against Hyderabad and Dera Murad Jamali (DM Jamali) respectively. Islamabad’s Test pacer Musa Khan was exceptional, dismantling Hyderabad’s batting lineup with figures of 7-28. Hyderabad managed only 99 runs in their second innings, succumbing to an innings and two runs defeat at the Diamond Cricket Ground. Islamabad had earlier gained a 101-run lead after scoring 194 in reply to Hyderabad’s modest first innings total of 93.

Meanwhile, Karachi Blues registered their second win of the tournament with a decisive innings and 56-run victory over DM Jamali at Mirpur Cricket Stadium. Despite adding only 13 runs to their overnight total of 144-8, Karachi Blues held a 107-run first innings lead. In response, Aftab Khan, Mohammad Hamza, and Tabish Khan quickly wrapped up DM Jamali’s innings for a mere 51 runs in 19.5 overs, with Hamza amassing match figures of 10-34 in 14.5 overs.

Elsewhere, Peshawar’s Mohammad Amir Khan took 6-98 to restrict Multan to 292, who resumed from an overnight score of 120-2. At stumps, Peshawar trailed by 222 runs with six wickets in hand at Ashfaq Cricket Ground in Charsadda.

In Abbottabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir were trailing by 125 runs against Karachi Whites, who posted 356 in their first innings. Rameez Aziz of Karachi Whites reached his seventh first-class century, adding 11 runs to his previous day’s score of 96.

Larkana built a lead of 133 runs against Faisalabad, closing the day at 238-8 in their second innings at National Ground, Islamabad. Faisalabad initially took a 105-run lead after scoring 196 in their first innings. Umar Waheed scored a notable 105 off 143 balls to strengthen Larkana’s position.

At Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, only 66 overs were possible as Rawalpindi finished the day at 306-9, extending their first innings lead over Bahawalpur to 73.

In Haripur at Railway Cricket Ground, Quetta posted a first innings total of 187, beginning from an overnight 89-4. In reply, FATA reached 152-3, setting up an intriguing day ahead.

Meanwhile, Lahore Whites neared victory at Marghzar Cricket Ground after securing a 53-run first innings lead and then reducing Abbottabad to a precarious 125-8 by stumps.

The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25 has continued to showcase remarkable performances across the country as teams battle for dominance in Pakistan’s premier domestic cricket tournament.
