Amazon Prime’s ‘Mirzapur’ Set for Theatrical Debut Following Series’ Success

Amazon Prime Video’s breakout series Mirzapur is making the leap to the big screen after its substantial success on streaming. According to Variety, the gritty crime thriller, starring celebrated actors Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal, will be adapted into a theatrical film, with an anticipated release date in 2026.
The upcoming film promises the return of fan-favorite characters, including Divyendu Sharma as the notorious Munna Tripathi. Cast regulars Gajgamini Gupta and Abhishek Banerjee will also reprise their roles, ensuring continuity with the series that captivated audiences with its raw depiction of power struggles and organized crime in India’s northern heartlands.
In a first for the Mirzapur franchise, the film will enjoy an exclusive eight-week theatrical release before becoming available to Prime Video subscribers across 240 territories worldwide. The decision to expand Mirzapur into cinemas comes on the heels of the series’ record-breaking viewership, further solidifying its status as one of the platform’s most successful original productions.
The movie is set to precede Mirzapur’s eagerly awaited fourth season, which is already in development. This expansion into theaters marks a significant milestone for Prime Video’s Indian content and underscores the show’s vast popularity and cultural impact.
